Phyllo Swirls

Ingredients
- 1 package of phyllo dough
- 1 cup walnuts, finely chopped
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1½ tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp water (for egg wash)
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Cooking Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- On a clean surface, lay down one sheet of phyllo dough and lightly brush it with melted butter.
- Place a second sheet on top and brush again with butter. Repeat until you have 3 to four layers, each brushed with butter.
- Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the surface, then dust with cinnamon and scatter the chopped walnuts on top.
- Roll the phyllo tightly from the long edge to form a log.
- Slice the log into small rolls, about 1½ inches thick, and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon of water to make an egg wash. 8. Brush the tops of the swirls for a golden finish.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the swirls are crisp and golden brown.
- Let cool for about 10 minutes, then dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
