Braised lamb shanks

  • 6 Lamb Shanks
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 Carrot
  • 1 Branch Thyme
  • 1 Bay Leaf
  • 2 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
  • 1 Tsp Ginger Powder
  • 1 Chicken Broth Cube
  • 2 Tbsp Olive Oil
  • Salt and Pepper
  • 4 Tbsp Orange Juice
  • 100 ml Vegetable Juice
  • 1 Tbsp Flour

Cooking directions

  • Heat your oven at 350 F (180C). Peel and mince the onion and garlic. Dice the carrot.
  • Heat the oil ( in an oven safe pot) over medium heat. Brown the Lamb Shanks.
  • Lower the heat and add the garlic onion and carrot. Cook for 2 minutes while stirring. Sprinkle the flour and mix for 2 minutes. Salt and pepper.
  • Add the orange and vegetable juice. Now add the thyme, bay leave, cinnamon, ginger and chicken cube.
  • Pour enough hot water to cover the shanks half way and bring to a boil. Salt and pepper lightly a second time.
  • Cover the pot and cook in the oven for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
