Ingredients
- 300g (about 10.5 oz) farfalle pasta
- 300g (about 10.5 oz) ground beef
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3-4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for extra heat)
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley or mint (optional, for garnish)
Cooking Directions
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the bow tie pasta according to the package instructions, until al dente. Drain the pasta and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta cooking water.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat the olive oil (or butter) in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the finely chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes (if using).
- Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Once the beef is cooked, lower the heat and add the cooked pasta into the skillet with the beef. If the mixture seems dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to moisten it up.
- Stir well to combine, allowing the pasta to soak in some of the flavors.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the plain yogurt with a pinch of salt and a little pepper.
- Once the pasta and beef are well combined, remove from heat.
- Spoon the pasta onto plates, and generously top with the yogurt mixture.
