Cooking Time|20 Minutes
Ingredients
- 4 large flour tortillas (burrito-size)
- 4 small crispy corn tortillas (or tortilla chips)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (minced)
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
- ½ cup sour cream
- 1 cup iceberg lettuce, shredded
- 1 tomato, diced
- 1 tbsp olive oil (for cooking the beef)
Homemade Taco Seasoning
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp dried oregano
- ¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- Pinch of cayenne (optional)
Cooking Directions
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook for 6–8 minutes, breaking it up as it browns.
- Once the beef is no longer pink, sprinkle in the homemade taco seasoning. Add 2–3 tbsp of water to help blend the spices, then stir well. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the beef is fully seasoned and slightly saucy. Remove from heat. W
- hile the beef is cooking, prep the toppings: shred the lettuce, dice the tomatoes, and have the cheese, sour cream, and corn tortillas ready.
- Take one large flour tortilla and trim it into a smaller circle by cutting off the edges. This piece will go inside the Crunchwrap, on top of the fillings, to help hold its shape and keep everything sealed when folding.
- Lay one large flour tortilla flat. In the center, layer the following: Shredded cheese, ¼ of the seasoned beef, 1 crispy corn tortilla , a spoonful of sour cream, shredded lettuce, diced tomato, more shredded cheese. Then, place one of the trimmed flour tortilla pieces on top of the stacked fillings.
- Fold the edges of the large flour tortilla up and over the center, creating a sealed hexagon. The trimmed piece inside helps cover the filling so it seals well.
- Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Place the Crunchwrap seam-side down and cook for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and sealed. Flip and cook the other side for another 2–3 minutes until crispy.
- Slice in half and enjoy warm. Serve with salsa, hot sauce, or guacamole if desired.
